Starting a business on the internet today has never been so easy. Anyone can do it, regardless
of their experience or educational background. Before starting your new business you need to
put in place a few simple procedures. I am listing below some of the main things you need to
do before you start your new venture.
Decide on the niche in which you wish to specialise - it's a good idea to choose something
you know something about. You may be saying to yourself- I don't know anything about
anything but I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you think about this for a minute or
two ,and you will find you know considerably more than you think. We are all experts on
something, and it should be remembered that the definition of an expert is the person who
knows most about the subject in hand, among the people present.
The first thing to do is to decide on your niche and you may have your own ideas-if so that's
great, if not they are plenty of resources available on the Internet to assist you. Try this link
for some ideas on product creation.
Now that you have decided on your niche, it's time to start thinking about marketing your
products, without spending a fortune. There are many ways to promote your product without
spending money. Once you are established you can start thinking about paid advertising such
as Google ad words, but when you first start is a good idea to avoid that as you can end up
spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds, with very few or no sales!
Free marketing ideas, some of the best ways to start marketing your products, are to submit
some articles on some of the article marketing sites. This is usually free and can generate an
awful lot of traffic. Google tends to pick up good quality articles and rank them highly very
quickly. Joining the social networking sites, MySpace, Facebook & Twitter, can raise your
profile on the Internet, and gain you kudos and recognition, both of which are essential for
successful marketing (see my article on branding at this link).
Some of the advantages of marketing online, are that you work less hours, you have more
time, more freedom, and if you do it properly, more money. Once you get a few products up
and running, your income starts to be generated. It will not be long before you're thinking of
giving up your daytime job. Replacing the average income of about £25,000 a year , is not
difficult on the Internet. You will be surprised how quickly this can be achieved with a little
effort.
The results you get are proportional to the effort you put into your business. If you work
harder you can benefit directly and your profits increase as you put in more hours. You
actually get paid what you are worth.
Once you get organised, you can automate quite a lot of your business and this will enable
you to take money even if you're sleeping or away on holiday. Obviously you have to work to
get your systems in place and your business will require a certain amount of attention,
especially if you increase your income by adding more products to your range. To reiterate,
initially your success is directly proportional to the effort applied. Once you're up and
running less effort is required on a day-to-day basis.
It is generally agreed the easiest products to use are digital download type products. This is
because your customers are able to buy the product and pay online by PayPal or some online
payment method. Once successful payment is made, they are directed to your download page
where they can download your product. As you can see once the systems are in place, you
have nothing to do but collect the money from your PayPal account. You have no shipping or
handling in fact you don't have to lift a finger. After the sale is made the system is
completely automated. Don't worry if you have no idea how to do any of these things- it
really is very straightforward and can be learned by anyone who can send an e-mail and type
a word document and is no more complicated than that. PayPal make it very easy for you to
collect money and direct your customers to their product once payment is completed
successfully.
