Branding yourself on the Internet, and why you should do this?

Branding yourself on the Internet, and why you should do this?
One of the biggest mistakes people make when starting to market on the Internet is that
they put up a flashy website, with all the bells and whistles, with what they think is an
irresistible offer, and they get absolutely no visitors and no buyer. Why is this?
The Internet is at such an advanced state, only smart marketers will ever make it. You have
to start by building your brand and that’s you. People will only buy from someone they
know, like and trust. If you have no Internet presence and a Google search on your name
produces no results, your prospects will conclude that you are of no consequence and why
should they deal with you.
Now brand building has to be a slow and methodical process, but if you ignore this first and
important step you will never make it. You will have to take a lot of time to put all the
procedures in place and I cannot stress this enough- this is possibly the most important step
on your route to marketing online. At this point you are probably saying to yourself- how
can I achieve all this? Well let's have a look at that.
Extensive use of Web 2.0 will put good foundations down for your branding. The use of
Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, article sites and other networking sites-all of these will raise
your profile, and get you listed in the Google search engine. Also submitting articles to
article sites making sure the content has a fair smattering of keywords-again,this will
improve your ranking in Google, Yahoo, MSN.
Keeping the content up-to-date and fresh, -Google loves articles and will rank you highly- if
the content is good!
Don't be tempted to include too many hyperlinks to your offers, this will be seen as blatant
spamming and is frowned upon. It is acceptable to put the occasional link to your offers, in
fact it's quite important. Finally just to reiterate, get your presence on the Web 2.0 sites,
and then get working on the articles. Now you may be saying to yourself- I'm not a writer
and I don't know anything, how am I expected to write an article with content anyone
would be interested in? You would probably be surprised how much you do know-If you sit
down with a blank piece of paper most people's minds go blank to match the paper so it's a
good idea to search the article sites for inspiration. Don’t steal people's articles, but it is a
good place to get ideas and there is nothing wrong with taking somebody else's article and
rewriting it in your own words, but I do stress don't copy it verbatim.
